Do you find it difficult to get rid of the fatty pouches which have accumulated in some of your body parts? In that case, you’re the perfect candidate for liposuction, a procedure which shapes your figure by sucking the fat away. At our clinic, you can choose from two methods of liposuction—Body-Jet, a device which uses a pressurised stream of water, or vibration liposuction.
A method appropriate for small- to medium-scale interventions, it can be performed both under local, or general anaesthesia. This surgery has two stages. First, a tumescent solution is injected into the treated area and left for 10 minutes to take effect. The goal is to minimise blood loss and prepare fat cells for suction. Secondly, fat is sucked away, using tubes which are plugged into a vibration source, therefore continually and mechanically disrupting the tissue.
Vibration liposuction can also be used to disrupt bumps and cellulite, caused by a previous, unsuccessful liposuction.
Body-Jet liposuction is a gentle method which allows the surgeon to move the siphoned-off fat deposits to another body part where there’s a lack of it. The device uses the gentle force of a water stream which not only loosens the fatty tissue and removes it from the body, but also has a minimum impact on blood vessels, nerves, and the surrounding tissue. The effect is long-term and apparent almost immediately. This method is frequently used for large-scale liposuctions or when the operation concerns extensive areas of the patient’s body.
If the treatment concerns a single area, it’s done as a day case surgery under local anaesthesia; if multiple areas are treated, the intervention is performed under general anaesthesia and the patient spends the night at the clinic. The operation’s length depends on the scope and on how many areas are being treated—it takes anywhere between 30 minutes and three hours. The patient must consult the physician and undergo a prior pre-operative examination.
A Body-Jet liposuction employs a thin cannula, inserted by the physician through small punctures. Using a water nuzzle, a tumescent solution is then injected into the hypodermis, disrupting the fatty tissue without disturbing surrounding tissues, blood vessels, and nerves. The homogenised fat is then sucked away with the same cannula. The cannula inlets are stitched with fine stitching. Finally, sterile dressing and elasticated bandaging is applied.
MUDr. Juraj Payer Ph.D., is the only international (Slovakia and the Czech Republic) instructor in the Body-Jet liposuction method. He performs 150 liposuctions annually.
